Let’s break some etiquette rules for a minute- for the sake of practicality, of course. Don’t tell Emily Post. When I asked 51% LA - 49% Wisconsin local Caroline Lee @teamwoodnote what the best thing about Milwaukee was… “It is a hidden gem of the US! Truly amazing food, great beer, beautiful homes + sites + art, we get all the great bands playing shows for, like, $15, the people are down to earth but they know how to have a good time…and the best part? This place is SO CHEAP! Rent + doing life in general is half the price of Chicago or LA, and yet, you truly have just as many outlets + opportunities.”
If that and the cheese curds don’t convince you to visit Milwaukee, well, then what are you doing here.
See ya next week - @campwilson #outwithlocals #localxMilwaukee

Hi, Guys! I’m so pumped to share my favorite Milwaukee gems with you this week… First up, @ColectivoCoffee: roasted right here in MKE, these local cafés have delicious drinks, tasty food AND the most colorful cups [every size has a different design]! If you need your caffeine fix, this is the place to go. Have you been to Milwaukee? What was your favorite place to go? Happy Sunday!
anyone who knows me will not be surprised to hear that my second Milwaukee rec is @BluesEgg! only open til 2pm, these guys are the kings of the breakfast/brunch scene. bottomless coffee, chorizo omelettes, goat cheese hash browns + peanut butter ganache cookies hold the keys to my heart!
(at Blues Egg)
ready for some Milwaukee outdoor goodness? @SchlitzAudubon is a nature center on the shore of Lake Michigan. With miles of trails + a waterfront teepee for all of your Wes Anderson-loving ways, this is a haven of relaxation + peace amidst the craziness of city life. Check it out!
(at Lake Michigan)
iPhone food-photography in sexy Euro-style low lighting may not look the best, but you just HAD to see those delicious salt bits on the salted tarts at Crazy Water in Milwaukee. if you’re looking for some fancy fusion [did someone say chorizo-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon?!] + a place for a romantic, non-stuffy dinner, THIS is your spot!
(at Crazy Water)
if you’re from Milwaukee, this rec might seem obvious.. but plenty of people don’t know that the @MilwaukeeArt Museum is a total gem of the Midwest. The collection inside is remarkable, not to mention the architecture—designed by Calatrava—which offers light + lines that’ll get an Instagrammer’s creative juices flowing. This is a MKE MUST!

Who doesn’t love an incredible Mexican meal, especially when the ingredients come from a local farm, and the decor looks a bit like this?! Seriously, guys, Cafe Corazon in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee is literally what I dream of at night! Their sangria, their tacos, even their breakfast burritos! C’mon!!
(at Cafe Corazon)
It’s my very last day to guest post on Milwaukee, and I still have so many gems to share! First up: the Landmark Oriental Theater! For film folks who love aesthetics just as much as they love a flawless indie flick, this is your new home. PRO TIP: the MKE Film Festival is going on RIGHT NOW + it is AWESOME. [Thanks to @mkefilm for this!] More soon! Happy Weekending!
(at Oriental Theatre)
Second Milwaukee rec of the day! The Iron Horse Hotel is one of my favorite MKE spots. Comfy beds, gorgeous decor, and delicious drinks if you happen to be looking for a great place to nab cocktails. PRO TIP: a stunning place for ‘getting ready photos’ if you’re gettin’ #marriedinmke. ;)
(at The Iron Horse Hotel)
speaking of Milwaukee weddings, or events of any kind, the Pritzlaff building is definitely a favorite! an old hardware store warehouse-turned-event space, this Third Ward building has all kinds of textures and histories to explore!
