This week’s Local, Product Designer & Maker Melanie Abrante, is hard working, creative, and sure to be an excellent tour guide. “I heard #Oakland is one the of the largest creative communities in the US and I wanted to see for myself!” @melanieabrantesdesigns believes so much in the bay-area that she uses locally sourced materials for her handcrafted heirloom objects, that are both functional and beautiful.
As Melanie puts it, in order to create something, wonderful & worth lasting - you have to get your hands dirty. We’re with you, sister.
Hi! It’s @melanieabrantesdesigns here bringing you the best spots in #oakland! Some of the best beer gardens here is #lostandfound on telegraph. Crazy fun food too, the thai chili popcorn is a must! 🍻
Fresh flowers and coffee at @grandfareoakland! I love being able to get my favorite lavender latte and a gorgeous bouquet in one stop. I can’t wait until they are finished expanding as well. A little market near Lake Merritt sounds awesome! @melanieabrantesdesigns
(at Grand Fare) (CLOSED)
The bird reserve at Lake Merritt is the perfect place to go to when you need a little break from the city and want to be immersed in nature. Take a closer peak of the birds with the binoculars they have too! @melanieabrantesdesigns
Northern Oakland has some super cute spots, one of my favorite being #temescalalley! It consists of small independent stores, cafés, a book store and not to mention awesome donuts from #donutdolly! - @melanieabrantesdesigns
A favorite store of mine in #temescalalley is @crimsonhort! They have the most amazing plants and trinkets. You walk in and you feel like you have been transported to another world! - @melanieabrantesdesigns
Traveling up to Berkley today!! Still in the east bay, it’s a short drive from oakland. This amazing coffee shop #bartavelle is a local favorite! Also, right next door is #acmebread! An amazing bakery that sells fresh bread and pastries everyday! Try it when you’re in town next! - @melanieabrantesdesigns
This is it! My last post and by far my favorite place in Oakland. It is the Chapel of the Chimes, designed by the famous Julia Morgan. (The first woman architect in CA!) It is room by room full of gorgeous architecture, peaceful fountains and plants. - Thanks for following along! @melanieabrantesdesigns
