Oklahoma City Oklahoma
With the Locals has given me the chance to get to know the lovely people willing to share their worlds with us, learn about new places, and connect with so many of you. And I'm very grateful for the tiny bit of time each week that I get to talk with you guys. I hope that each Sunday gives a better understanding of what we're building.
So while there is a lot of planning that goes into With the Locals, it's not too calculated when it comes to scheduling. Most Locals are arranged weeks in advance, sometimes as much as three months, but always based on an opening in their schedules. We try to keep it simple. And sometimes things just overlap.
Today marks 20 years since the Oklahoma City bombing. Today and always we will remember the 168 lives lost and the countless lives forever changed by that day. Oklahoma City is a community that thrives because it is made of up of strong, caring, and resilient people, "they are truly one of a kind." Born and bred OKC local, Sara @sarazissou, exudes local love and pride. "I will always try to promote local shops, restaurants, anything OKC! Expect kind people. All the local shops try to help one another, and everyone here just really wants OKC to succeed and grow. It's an awesome community."
Hi, everyone! @sarazissou here! 😊 I'm going to start us off in the Plaza District, which is located a little northwest of downtown OKC. Here is a shot of @treeandleaf, an awesome local printshop. I always stop by to pick up cool @okcthunder shirts. Every 2nd Friday of each month, the Plaza District has "LIVE on the Plaza", which is a monthly block party that has live music, shopping, featured artists, and special events. It's a great little neighborhood, and I can't wait to show you guys more!

Next on the list is a local handmade shop, @collectedthread. It's also located in the Plaza District and has many items made by Oklahomans. If you want a beautiful piece of jewelry, a funny card, or maybe some adorable decorations for a baby's room, stop by @collectedthread!

Morning, everyone! Here is @dnagalleries, which is located in the Plaza District in OKC. 🎨 DNA hosts a different local OKC artist each month in their gallery, and the retail area of the store supports local artists by selling their goods. There are tons of Oklahoma themed items, and it's a great place to shop. Be sure to stop by if you can! - @sarazissou

Happy Earth Day, everyone! We went to the Myriad Botanical Gardens this morning, which is located in downtown OKC. It's an awesome place to visit, take photos, and see tons of exotic plants.

Next up is a photo from one of my favorite local shops, @sarakatestudios. The owner and staff are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and represent OKC so well. You'll find one of a kind items, beautiful rugs, antiques, candles, and unique decorations in the shop. I greatly encourage anyone visiting OKC (and Oklahomans!) to drop by and visit @sarakatestudios.

Here is a place that I visit often, Guestroom Records (@guestroom). They have two locations in Oklahoma - one in OKC and one in Norman. Both have an awesome selection of vinyl, cd's, and some cool album art. If you are a vinyl collector, you will be a happy camper if you go to @guestroom. 💿 🙌 I highly recommend a visit!
